Plio-Quaternary Volcanism in Northeastern Morocco: Petrography and Geochemistry of Outcrops with High Geothermal Potential

چکیده

Cenozoic volcanic activity in Morocco started the Miocene and proceeded, after a short break, during Pliocene Quaternary. Calc-alkaline magmatic occurred first was accompanied by eruption of transitional lavas, followed Plio-Quaternary alkali basaltic activity, which emplaced within Neogene sedimentary basins Rif belt its foreland. From calc-alkaline to alkaline magmatism, passing through term, activities formed magnificent outcrops, very diversified their affinities, mineral compositions geochemistry. The petrographic study geochemistry Plio-quaternary rocks areas with high geothermal potential northeast show dominance Na-rich (basanites, basalts, tephrites trachy-andesites), trachy-andesites. Most samples exhibit an enrichment large-ion lithophile elements (LILEs) over high-field-strength (HFSEs). These results were used test global model Circum-Mediterranean Anorogenic Igneous Province (CiMACI) regional [1].

Petrography, geochemistry and source of Ghazan Plio-Quaternary basalts, NW Urmia

The volcanic rocks with the Plio-Quaternary age, are exposed in the northern part of the Sanandaj-Sirjan zone, in northwest Urmia. The main mineral phases are olivin + clinopyroxene ± plagioclase, that are present as both phenocrysts to microcrystalline with other minor minerals. The dominant textures of these rocks are porphyry, microlithic porphyry, hyalo-porphyry, glomeroporphyritic and vesi...

Petrography and Geochemistry of Quaternary travertines in the Ab-Ask region, Mazandaran Province- Iran

The travertine deposit springs are located on the southeast of the Damavand Volcano, 85 km northeast of Tehran Province. The deposits of these springs mainly outcropped with cascade, hill, conical, layered, calcareous Tufa and Fissure-Ridges morphologies. Travertine studies have usually been conducted based on field observations, geochemistry and hydrology. The tectonic activity of the region, ...

24. Petrography and Geochemistry of Red Sea Dolomite

Examination of piston cores and, particularly, sediments collected by the Deep Sea Drilling Project has shown that authigenic dolomite occurs in a wide range of sedimentary associations. While the trace to a small percentage of dolomite often encountered in pelagic carbonate sequences may be a result of authigenesis under "normal" deep-sea conditions, the few studies to date seem to indicate th...
